4/25/2014 · Check the secondary air horn spring setting. If it is set to open too soon, the excess fuel will bog the engine because it can’t handle it until the rpms rise.
5/12/2018 · Air door tension is key on any air valve secondary carb.
7/3/2012 · If the secondaries open too fast there is not enough vacuum signal to get the fuel flowing and you get bog. try wiring the secondaries shut to see if that solves the problem. It’s a good idea to isolate the primaries when tuning anyway.
12/13/2010 · Sorry guys, I got the videos a bit out of order. The Rochester Quadrajet has gotten a bad rap over the years, often called a Quadrabog or Quadrajunk. In fact,…
12/14/2010 · A bog can be lean or rich, this is adjusted by the lever-arm that actuates the needles and the size of the needles themselves. The Q-Jet is a real bear to set up, lots of adjustments which demand the tuner know a lot about how engines and carbs react to each other as there’s stuff going all sorts of ways in the adjustments.
8/2/2012 · Initial, total and how the vac adv is hooked up- whether to ported or manifold vac. Once that is straightened out, set the idle mixture screws w/a vac gage if possible, otherwise to the best idle speed w/both needles about (within 1/2 turn at the most) the same distance out.
Bog from a stop is virtually always (and generally erroneously) diagnosed as a faulty accelerator pump (see the section on accelerator pumps for testing). Most modern carburetors are designed to function with roughly 0.020 (20 thousanths) clearance between the center of the throttle plate edge, and the throttle body at a point equidistant from the throttle shaft bearing areas.
9/2/2004 · Several attempts result in the same disappointing off-idle stumble and/or an overly rich idle mixture. You can hit the throttle hard enough to pump fuel into the engine and launch with tires …
1/18/2019 · But only after the engine is at operating temp is shut off for a while then restarted, it takes a little longer to start and the engine on acceleration wants to choke and cough for a few seconds. Then it’s back to normal. What is the likely culprit here? Answer: The problem seems to be temperature related. Check the coolant temperature sensor.
3/3/2010 · Hello i have a 1967 el camino 327 small block with a rochester quadrajet carb and a turbo 400 trans. Heres my problem: If i accelerate my car from a dead stop the car hesitates upon acceleration from idle to say 10% acceleration , then it bucks forward. I have had numerous mechanics look at the car saying your timings off.
