12/29/2018 · Using the gyros, you should be able to flip it back upright using the same controls you would use with a ship. Might take some work, though, to get it flipped. I’ve also seen several rovers in videos and on the workshop that use pistons to flip them back over (can also be used to lift the vehicle up to replace destroyed wheels).

9/9/2013 · Instead what I did was use a piston or two to lift the rover, then build a long arm attached to a rotor underneath (on what is usually the top of the vehicle). Illustration here. Attach the rotor to the center of the left or right edge of the top of the vehicle, facing toward the front.

Giving that much mass so much inertia and potential energy means a lot of flipping if you’re trying to design a vehicle with some real world proportions in size. You need much longer and wider wheel bases.
So your car suddenly flips over like it was hit by a truck from below. Similar unrealistic instant forces happen if you i.E. change the offset rapidly. Using that as a trick you can actually launch the moon-rover into space by just pressing x repeatedly on a server.
